We are back with some incredibly exciting updates as the pieces for the Brighton & Hove Care Leavers Christmas Dinner 2026 continue to fall into place. Thanks to the overwhelming warmth and goodwill of our community, we’ve crossed some major milestones over the last few weeks.
Here is what’s been happening behind the scenes:
We Have a Venue! 🏡
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that we have secured a fantastic home for Christmas Day: Exeter Street Hall in Prestonville, Brighton! It is perfectly located close to the city centre, making it accessible for everyone, and it comes with a fully equipped kitchen ready to whip up an unforgettable festive feast. A massive, heartfelt thank you goes out to the hall manager, Susan, who has been an absolute gem. She has been incredibly supportive of our vision from day one, and in an act of pure generosity, the hall has kindly given us the venue with no hire fee. We are so looking forward to working together with Susan to make the magic happen.
We are Live on Open Collective! 🤝
In another huge step forward for our setup, we are now officially live on the Open Collective, as part of the Social Change Nest. This is a massive milestone for us because it means we can transparently account for every single penny we spend, ensuring full accountability to our community. Most importantly, it gives us a brand-new channel to fundraise securely and effectively.

Co-Creating with the Young Care Leavers Forum ✨
As we’ve said before, this event isn't just for care leavers; it’s shaped by them. We recently had a deeply inspiring meeting at the Young Care Leavers forum at the 67 Centre in Hodshrove Lane.
With half a dozen young people in attendance and Council Leader Bella Sankey, the energy was amazing. They brought some incredible ideas to the table for activities to do on the day. One of our absolute favourites was a pre-event pampering session - offering nail styling, haircuts, and massages for the young people just before the dinner kicks off!
Because we are passionate about the young people being the co-creators of this event, we’ve decided to create a shortlist of these fantastic ideas so everyone can vote on their favourites. Watch this space for the poll!
Making Waves: Our Next Fundraiser 🌊
Following the amazing success of our Worthing Half Marathon run, we are planning another sponsored event to keep the momentum going. This time, we’re taking to the water with a sponsored swim around the Brighton Pier!
We are finalizing the details, so keep your eyes peeled for dates and info on how you can support or join in.
Every step of this journey reminds us how incredible the Brighton & Hove community is. Thank you for walking (and swimming!) alongside us to make sure our young care leavers feel celebrated, seen, and loved this Christmas.
